What is the cheapest and most efficient way to travel from DFW Airport to Austin Texas?

I would like a cheap alternative to a roundtrip flight costing $150 to get from the airport to Austin. I have been searching for bus companies but this seems not to be working out. Any suggestions?|||You know, you might just want to take the flight. Driving to Austin will take you about 3 hours from the airport, whereas if you just took a connecting flight you'd be there in the same amount of time, and not have to sit in the horrible Austin traffic on I-35.

It's either that or a rental car, which could cost you as much as boarding another plane (with the gas and all).|||rental car. austin is only a few hours (3) south, straight down I35 from dfw|||I would rent a car. Just aviod arriving Austin during rush hour traffic. The major bleed into Austin (I-35) is a nightmare. Also watch your speed in the small towns before Austin (ie..Georgetown). The traffic cops in this area are real bad.

ps... right before you hit Austin limits there is a new Outlet Center that is worth checking out and an IKEA.|||You could ride amtrac for $31. I would opt for flying out of Love Field Dallas on Southwest or renting a car myself.|||Why don't you drive? it is not that far if you start driving in the early morning before rush hours (7-9 am) and you will enjoy the view and have a car when you are in Austin.|||Rent a car, or drive your own. It's about 4 hours from Dallas to Austin (traffic jams notwithstanding) and you can get some good rates from car companies in the area - including those at DFW airport.|||did you check Southwest Airlines? They've been advertising $49 each way ...
