I am planning a move to Austin. Please tell me if this seems reasonable: I have three years experience in accounting with a CPA %26amp; Masters Degree. I have $25,000 savings, no car, and want to know if I am being unrealistic in my expectations in obtaining a job in Austin while just living on my savings? I am hearing mixed things about the job market down here, but more specifically does anyone have an idea what the market is like for someone similiar with my background? Thanks.|||I am sorry but I can't speak specifically to your background. I can tell you I wouldn't feel comfortable coming down here with 25 Grand and no car.
I am not sure where you are moving from so I can't tell you if it is cheaper here or there. There would be some difficulty if you didn't have a car when it came to getting to interviews and the like.
The only thing I can really offer is this link which can help you look for a job here. It even has a link to a Cost of Living calculator so you can get an idea of how far the 25 grand will take you compared to where you are living now.

Good Luck|||Yes, the unemployment center is packed to the gills in this city with people looking for work. And apartment prices are through the roof.
I have no idea where you previously/are currently living. But Austin is expensive. $25,000 will not last long in this city even if you are a really careful budget er and aren't out partying.|||The city's unemployment is about a percent below the states.
